The Reading Detective Books are decodable reading books for use alongside the Phonics for SEN and other systematic, synthetic phonics and linguistic phonics programmes.

The text in the books is carefully selected to reflect the sounds (and sound spellings) that the pupil(s) have worked on in class so that they are able to use their developing decoding skills and increasing phonic knowledge to read the words with accuracy. The Reading Detective Books are designed to be for use by pupils at the start of their reading journey.

There are seven books for you to print out and simply fold into books - no staples required.

These cover the sounds:
Set 1: s a t p,
Set 2: i m n d,
Set 3: g o c k,
Set 4: e u r,
Set 5: h b f l,
Set 6: j v w x,
Set 7: y z.

These correspond to the sounds in the 7 sets covered in Book 1 of the Phonics for SEN programme.

Each book contains carefully sequenced single words and pictures. The child reads a single word. on the right-hand page and then turns the page over. The picture on the left-hand page should match the word they have read. Can be used by pupils independent as ‘self checking’.

Great to read in class, send home or for early independent reading. Easy to print out and replace if lost.
