In this set of lesson plans, pupils receive an invitation to a special teddy bears’ picnic to celebrate HM The King and HM The Queen Consort’s Coronation. The invitation stimulates a number of creative and cross-curricular learning activities including games, role-play and story. Colourful resources of ‘bears on location’ help pupils to consider all aspects of picnic protocol including what not to wear, how to find the perfect picnic spot, choosing what to eat and practising picnic manners. These activities and resources offer a play-based approach to teaching and provide opportunities to link classroom learning with learning outside. The lesson is part of three in the set and should be used with ‘The Coronation Big Lunch: Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ and ‘The Coronation Big Lunch: Picnic Plate’ .
