Rocks and minerals are defined, and their uses examined, through a series of practical activities and worksheets designed for students in KS2.

The formation of rocks and the evolution of life on Earth is considered using a simple ruler activity. Crystals are made using salt and modelled with mathematical nets. Rocks are tested to find their suitability in the construction of a castle. Pupils will also enjoy discovering fun facts about minerals using simple puzzles.

Wolverhampton University students have designed these original illustrations, which engage and encourage children’s interest.
