I have used this lesson successfully with my Year 10 and Year 11 classes when teaching market research as part of GCSE Business Studies specifications (e.g. AQA 2130).

This lesson focuses on secondary research and what it is/entails, as well as its advantages and disadvantages. It includes a research activity which will encourage students to investigate and judge whether a business idea would be successful, using secondary market research methods.

The key lesson aims are as follows:
1. Define what secondary market research is, using examples
2. Categorise advantages and disadvantages of secondary market research
3. Investigate and judge whether a business idea would be successful, using secondary market research

A PowerPoint presentation which includes a starter activity, key definitions, examples, an research activity and an plenary activity also.

Please note that the partnerships advantage and disadvantage activity is a notebook file and is designed to work for SMART boards in classrooms.
