Fun 2D shape and 3D objects activities (puzzles worksheets) for Upper Key Stage 2 Maths, ideal for early finishers, starters, revision and homework. Especially suits Year 5 and Year 6 and contains 5 Hidden Word puzzles worksheets for 2D shape names, angles in a triangle, properties of quadrilaterals, names and properties of 3D objects. Puzzles are PDF format in the Zip file. Full answer keys included.

Puzzles 1 to 4 focus on polygons such as triangles (scalene, equilateral, isosceles, right-angled), squares, rectangles, rhombuses, parallelograms, kites, trapeziums, pentagons, hexagons, heptagons, octagons. Puzzle 5 focuses on 3D shapes / objects such as pyramids, cones, spheres, cylinders, cubes and cuboids. A US version is included with the word ‘trapezium’ replaced with ‘trapezoid’.

An engaging alternative to standard worksheets, they can be completed individually or in pairs / groups. They are similar to codebreaker puzzles, with a maths-related word to be revealed after the Shape work has been completed. Each puzzle contains a grid. Students circle any boxes containing errors, then put together the letters from these boxes to reveal the hidden word.

Students often forget or avoid checking their own work for errors so it’s great to get them carefully checking in these puzzles. Spotting common errors may help them remember to check their own work and help them avoid common errors themselves.
