The detailed animated slides describe a simple experimental investigation on an easily created simple pendulum.

The purpose of the investigation is to determine the effect of pendulum length on the frequency of oscillations.

Results are presented, followed by construction of a non-linear graph, which enables an assessment to be made of the required length of pendulum for a frequency of 50 swings per minute.

The pupils are then invited to conduct an experimental investigation of their own, and finally formulate conclusions regarding the relationship between the length of a pendulum and its frequency of oscillations.
