Slavery - 7 lesson scheme
One Ppt, 7 lessons! L1, British empire, excellent Horrible History songs (hyperlinked) with an optional vocabulary homework. L2, establishment of slavery, slave auction clip and worksheet to establish why slavery was deemed acceptable by so many. L3, Triangular trade, turn the classroom into the Trade Triangle with an information gathering activity. L4, will require either a clip from ep1 of "Roots" or "Amistad", students glean information about the experience of the characters and decide which experience was worse (capture or transportation). L5, slavery mythbusters lesson (premium resource - it was an Ofsted obs and interview lesson, it's really good). L6 and 7 Abolition (role of Wilberforce) and the Underground Railroad (could use Simpsons episode)
