Powerpoint, student worksheet and teacher worksheet for a full hour or more on the historical impact of the Moors on Spanish cuisine. I created this lesson to link to the new AQA A level coursebook under ‘La Identidad Regional: La gastronomía’.

The lesson:

  1. Starter - vocab search for cooking words (to support later activities)
  2. Brief Teacher-Pupil mini-lecture introducing Moorish history in Spain
  3. Translation exercise (323 words total - pairs complete sections)
  4. Listening/reading/quick-fire translate exercise - salmorejo video
  5. Imperative revision with albondigas recipe
  6. Practice with imperative tense using migas recipe
  7. Plenary quiz

What’s included in this pack:

  • Full powerpoint for around an hour of teaching, although this resource could definitely be used over two lessons if you spend more time on corrections, and dive deeper into the translation section of the lesson.
  • full notes for each slide - make sure you click ‘Notes’ at the bottom right of the Powerpoint so you can see these.
  • on slide click-to-animate corrections
  • Student’s worksheet to accompany lesson
  • Teacher’s worksheet for corrections and key vocab
