This is a great contextualized Spanish Project that introduces students to Project Change, a non-profit organization that focuses on the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals . See their website here: https://www.afsusa.org/project-change/learn/ . Through this project, students are asked to research Project Change, then create a new project proposal for the organization. They will be asked to choose a developing country on the list and a particular UN goal to focus on while creating a solution to a particular global problem of their choice. Students can take this one step further by actually submitting their proposal to Project Change. Occasionally the organization does a contest to encourage young “changemakers” to submit their ideas. Winning proposal is presented with a trip to that country where students actually participate in a service learning program. They currently have a contest open until November 2, 2018. Allow 4-5 days for completion. This project includes a grading rubric and links for the research portion. Recommended for upper level Spanish classes.
