The Art of Mathematics - Piet Mondrian
The Art of Mathematics looks at a variety of artists and styles of art. For each artist we give a brief history of their life, links to examples of their work and ideas for mathematical activities to go with specific works. This article looks at the work of Piet Mondrian who is best known for his compositions using only vertical and horizontal lines at 90° angles. Classroom activities include the exploration of simple fractions for KS2.
