It’s baaaaacck! 65 questions based on the world’s happenings (mainly UK) over the last school year of July 2018 - July 2019.

The questions are pupil-accessible being a range of news based events, celebrity, music and movies covering a wide range of topics to make it so there’s something for everyone.

Split into 4 rounds of three months each, with final round having four months. Good for filling an hour in the last week and a good informal one to do with your form if you have an hour to fill with something that’s not just a lazy ‘watch a video’ and you actually want to spend some time with your class!

Answer sheet for students to fill in on final slide.

Lasts around 45 minutes with a form, I usually split them into groups and give rewards after each round.

Have a good Summer break!

ONE YEAR of The News Quiz 2019-2020 Academic Year Tutor Form time Current Affairs

This is a bundle of the weekly News Quiz. YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THE SECOND FILE ALONG LABELLED CURRENT (or possibly 10th - 17th June, not sure if it renamed OK) AND THE ZIP FILE INCLUDES ALL QUIZZES OF THE 2019-2020 YEAR SO FAR. A few people asked if rather than buying it each week if it would be possible to buy it once and get the whole year in one go. So, in this bundle will be a whole years worth (38 school weeks) which I will add the new week's one to weekly, usually on a Tuesday evening. This will be from September 2019 to July 2020. As each weekly one is £3 and this whole year's bundle is £30, hopefully getting a whole year for the price of 10 separate weeks (10 x £3) will be a better deal, all you will have to do is go to the bundle and download the relevant one each week. THE TES HAVE ASKED ME TO POINT OUT A FEW THINGS. THE RESOURCE THAT IS LABELLED 'CURRENT WEEK' WILL HAVE A ZIP FILE IN IT THAT CONTAINS THE CURRENT WEEK'S QUIZ. They have also asked me to point out that as it covers a whole year (the resources of which obviously don't exist yet - if only I could predict the future, haha!), it will be NON-REFUNDABLE. This is as the TES can't guarantee the promise of future work. I hope I have understood what the TES are asking for here! :) 2019-2020: WEEK 1: 2nd - 9th September uploaded :) WEEK 2: 9th - 16th September uploaded :) WEEK 3 and so on tba... Info about the quiz: 13 topical questions of the past week’s news, across the UK and the world. ANY MIS-SPELLINGS/MISSING CAPITALS ETC. IN THE PREVIEW ARE INTENTIONAL AND LINK TO THE LITERACY QUESTIONS IN THE REST OF THE QUIZ! THIS IS THE TWO WEEK’S WORTH AS WE FINISH A LITTLE EARLIER AND IT WASN’T WORTH DOING A WHOLE WEEK’S ONE - NEXT ONE IN SEPEMBER 2019! :) Have agreat Summer! Powerpoint so can be used on a standard whiteboard. Includes 2 literacy and 1 numeracy questions based on the other questions. Works well as a form group activity in registration time - I give sweets to the winning team (we’re not supposed to give sweets out, so it’s a nice ‘naughty’ reward and makes (some of) them watch the news in the week. :)

I just love this quiz - it was the highlight of the week for my form last year and you know how hard it is to get Y9 enthused about anything! So much so, that I have personally purchased it for them this year - it was the first thing they asked for when they returned to school last Wednesday. Thank you Mike for making Friday form time such a great end to the week :)
