Thankyou for looking at my resource.

This resource includes two lessons.
Lesson 1 - Adding ed + d
Lesson 2 - Removing the y and add ied + double the consonant.

Each lesson includes a fully comprehensive powerpoint ,worksheets/resources catering to a wide range of abilities, preparation list.

Each lesson develops children’s conceptual understanding of changing regular verbs to past tense verbs.

The first lesson builds on children’s understanding on verbs. Children will start by playing “Simon says,” and reflecting on how the game is based on verbs.

Children will start with verbs which simply involve adding ed. Children will complete an independent/helping hands task.

Children will then build on this by looking at words that end in ed. Again children will complete an independent/helping hands task.

Chilli Challenges are provided to all children. These tasks are aimed to broaden and challenge their understanding. These tasks are offered to all children. The ‘differentiation’ is based on how children access these open ended tasks.

Helping hands aim to support children to access the main learning such as by reducing cognitive overload. Some tasks involve teacher led tasks where as some tasks involve simplified versions of the main task but still allow children success in the learning objective. For instance, filling a gap in rather than rewriting a whole sentence to allow children to focus on the task of writing a verb in the past tense.

in the second lesson. Children will recap on their prior learning by identifying which word could be the odd one out. Each task is followed up by a teacher explanations. These has been carefully sequenced to build child up to the point they finished the last lesson.

As with the previous lesson children will look at each individual rule using pattern spotting and observations to establish what the rules are.

Children will complete an independent/helping hands task for each rule. A chilli challenge is provided for each rule.
