The transition between Reception and Year 1 has long been a challenge for many Year 1 teachers. Well not anymore!

Here are 6 weeks worth of planning that will allow pupils time to get used to starting the National curriculum. Each task or activity planned linked directly to the Year 1 Curriculum and is differentiated three ways to give opportunities to further the learning taking place. These challenges once explained to pupils, can be completed independently whilst group work is going on with adults. To help with the set up of all the activities, photos of how they look are included in the plans.

A ‘Learning Passport’ can be created so that a record of activities completed can be kept as evidence for learning. If the children are shown they are more than capable of filing their own work into a flap folder or ring binder.

Resources are included as necessary; however most tasks or activities can be found in school!
