Year 5 or Year 6 Famous Artists Bundle of Twelve Reading Comprehension Activities

This is a bundle of twelve reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about famous artists. The bundle includes activities on:

• Leonardo da Vinci
• Salvador Dali
• Andy Warhol
• Frida Kahlo
• Michelangelo
• Banksy
• Rembrandt
• Henri Matisse
• Jackson Pollock
• Claude Monet
• Vincent van Gogh

The texts look at the lives and work of the artists, and conclude with comprehension and grammar questions. They also contain extension activities for fast-finishing students.

Each resource is ideal for a homework activity, a reading group activity, guided reading, exam/test preparation etc.

Each activity requires NO PREP; they have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers.

Answers, for teacher use, are on the final pages of the documents.

Time allowance ( one hour)
5 minutes - read through the text individually.
40 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
15 minutes - Teacher and students go through the text and answers.
