The unit directs students to investigate the biographical, literary, social, historical, and philosophical contexts of a collection of Rossetti’s poems. Students are also directed to complete an in-depth investigation of the language, form and structure of Rossetti’s poems using key terminology. This scheme of work is designed to be split over the two year course (5 weeks in each year). The scheme also allows for several of the set poems to be taught as ‘unseen poems’ (students will approach the poems as they would an unseen poem in Section A of the exam); in this way, students will develop reading strategies without deviating from the set anthologies. The scheme of work is accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation and several related resources.

A Level English Literature SOW and Resources
A comprehensive set of schemes of work and resources designed for the 2015 Edexcel A Level English Literature course. It also includes resources that can be adapted/used for Edexcel A Level English Language and Literature. The Schemes of Work include resources and lesson materials, including lesson-by-lesson PowerPoints and assessments.
This bundle includes all the SOWs you would need to teach poetry from Year 7 to Year 13. In the lower years, the texts are grouped thematically: animal, childhood, and protest and persuasion. At GCSE and A Level, the text follow Edexcel and CIE anthologies, as well as a unit focused on the works of Christina Rossetti. All schemes include relevant resources and comprehensive PPTs.
This has been very useful to me as this is my first time teaching A-Level literature. The power point is clear and easy to work through. The pack includes example essays and lots of different activities for various poems. I usually flesh out the analysis with my own points and comments. My students have found the essay planning pdf particularly useful to help them structure their essays and I have used the PEEL slide several times to help them develop their analytical comment. The SOW outline is useful, but I would like it if the ppt. itself had clearer explanations in the notes sections to guide me to any resources it is referring to. Nevertheless, this is excellent value for the time it has saved me planning, thank you very much.
