An activity designed to allow pupils the opportunity to consolidate their knowledge of waterfall formation, as well as work independently to widen their World geographical knowledge by applying their prior learning to a waterfall of their choice.

These resources outline the overall task of designing an educational leaflet based on a waterfall of choice. There are clear criteria outlined of what should be included in a ‘checklist’ format which can be used by pupils to self or peer assess work as completed, or assessment for learning (AFL) opportunity where pupils (or teacher!). This directs the person giving feedback to identify what has been included in the leaflet, whilst giving extra room for additional comments to be made. An overall judgement of overall strengths and areas to be improved can then be made by the leaflet creator or the marker – whichever suits the needs of your lesson plan.

I have found this resource useful with both KS3 and KS4 Geography pupils when teaching about rivers but have also adapted this resource to use across other topics and tasks such as coastal landscapes and tourism.

Adaptable versions are included in this download enabling you to alter to suit your school’s geography curriculum or to cater to the needs of your teaching groups.
