Weekly Spellings & Homophones complete SOW - Year 3 - Full list for the entire year - Aligned to NC

This is a complete Year 3 Spelling SOW - a weekly list consisting of all statutory requirement spellings and homophones which I made and used last year with my Year 3 pupils. I sent out one copy to parents so that they knew what words would be tested on Friday’s SPAG test and kept another copy in the children’s SPAG books. It was very easy to plan my SPAG lessons accordingly.

It worked very well as SOW is broken down to weeks, with spellings, words to be learned highlighted in yellow and all homophones included (also, I have given examples for all homophones to facilitate learning). Children had to learn their yellow spellings and HA (High Ability) also had to learn the green spellings. You could give prizes to children who learn extra words.

On Friday, we took our weekly SPAG test and I kept track of the chn’s progress using a colour-coded spreadsheet. (red for very few or no words spelled correctly, orange for some words, green for most). I had children assess each other’s test using the extra copy that was in their SPAG books so it would take 5’ and teacher marking is not needed.
