In this lesson, students gain a deeper understanding of how descriptive writing can create atmospheric settings which determine the mood of a story. Students will start developing a setting for their competition entry. This lesson also examines the difference between being inspired by another author’s work and plagiarism. The lesson is supported by a film by award-winning writer, Mal Peet.
