A city on the southern end of the Dead Sea. Its precise location is uncertain. It was one of the 5 cities of the plain: Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, Zeboim, and Bela or Zoar. It marked the south eastern geographical limits of the Canaanites on a boundary. No trace of it or of the other cities of the plain has been discovered. Can we find any external evidences to this place? Sodom and Gomorrah are mentioned in the Ebla tablets. The Ebla Tablets were discovered in northern Syria. In the tablets all five cities are mentioned in the exact same sequence as Genesis 14.
