A up beat song from the point of view of the evacuees. Suitable for Y2-Y7.
Easy but effective piano accompaniment.
Lyrics include:
We’re leaving the city to live in the country
Leaving the war behind
Arrived at the station, the family looked kind
No idea at all what we might find in the country
No idea at all what we might find
Just glad to leave the rotten war behind- Yes sir!
Looks like things gonna be just fine- Uh Huh!
Looks like things gonna be just fine - Yeah!

This is a really useful resource! I have been teaching this song to my Primary 4 class (Year 3) and they are really enjoying it. It is quite easy to pick up and helps teach about what it was like to be an evacuee. We are hoping to perform it on our "World War 2 Day." It is great to have the backing track and the piano sheet music as well. Thank you!

The song is very sweet and appropriate for my Year 4 class. The music teacher also really appreciate having the notes to the song!
