Writing Prompts for Math: Integers *Perfect for Interactive Notebooks and Exit Slips*

Writing in the math classroom is so important for the success of students! Not only does it help math teachers make a connection to the common core standards, but it helps students stretch their minds, become critical thinkers and sharpen problem solving skills. This set of 20 writing prompts covers many of the topics needed for understanding integers, absolute value and operations with integers. They are created so that there are 2 per sheet. They are the perfect size for interactive math notebooks or to use as exit slips for assessment. Please note that there is no answer key included as there are many acceptable answers for each question. Even if a question is not answered correctly, a student’s reasoning can guide the teacher in helping the student get to where he or she needs to be.
