Year 4 Science curriculum break down and assessment - unit of work

The powerpoint is a booklet that has the National Curriculum requirements for year 4. It is broken down into sections, e.g magnets, animals including humans etc, and within each section are a list of resources, useful websites and experiments that are specifically linked to the working scientifically and the knowledge based requirements for that year group. It’s a useful guide for teachers as it explains what content needs to be covered throughout the year, with ways to support the children learning this content through experiments.
Included, is also a useful assessment tool. The ‘Working Scientifically Sheet’ is a way of showing that the children are meeting these requirements. The children colour in a lab bottle each time they work scientifically. These strands are specifically linked to the National Curriculum working scientifically requirements for years 3 and 4.
