Teach two things at once! This great activity is perfect for Shakespeare Week and asks the children to cut out and sort the main clause and match it to the correct relative clause. Teaching this important part of the year 5 and 6 SPaG curriculum, this activity also offers children the chance to learn facts which tell the story of William Shakespeare’s life. Facts range from his early life in Stratford Upon Avon, to his family and his time in London and give children a chronology of information which can later be used in their own writing or research.

The SPaG focus includes:

  • Discussion and learning about using commas for clauses.
  • Identifying main and subordinate clauses
  • Relative Pronouns
  • Relative clauses and identifying them after a noun.
