Year 8-9 Textiles Scheme of Work - Self-Image Doll

Year 8-9 Textiles Scheme of Work on creating a doll based on the students own image. This scheme of work was created to challenged the students and get them to see themselves in a positive way.
List of the lesson objectives are below:

 To understand what this textiles project is going to consists of.
 To identify and understand the practical uses of common workshop equipment and components used in making textile products.
 To understand the processes, application of a one-off design and how it effects production on a larger scale.
 To demonstrate joining and finishing techniques, such as seams and hem finishing.
 To understand the different types of fabrics and their properties.
 To understand and demonstrate different uses of the design research.
 To demonstrate decorative and normal stitch techniques in their work.
 To be able to see themselves in a different light and have that reflected in their work and designs.
 To build a sense of worth and self-confidence through self-expression.
 To understand the health and safety within the working environment.
 To demonstrate creative design skills and appropriate annotations.
 To plan for the creation of their final design.
 To be able to manufacture their final design or product to a good standard.
 To be able to test and evaluate their final design or product.
 To be able to peer assess in a mature manner.
 To be able to self-assess in a reflective manner.
