This is a 4 lesson pack for year 7’s introduction to Infection and disease. The lessons are based on spaced and interleaved methodology.
Lesson 1 looks at what pathogens are, the different types, and the diseases they cause including looking into the symptoms of each disease.
Lesson 2 recaps lesson 1 and then looks at how pathogens are spread.
Lesson 3 recaps lesson 1/2 and then looks at the work of Semmelweis and why we need to wash our hands.
Lesson 4 recaps lesson 1/2/3 and then looks at how our natural defences such as our skin etc prevetn pathogen entry and harm.
Each lesson contains a clear, simple powerpoint which links to the differentiated worksheets, with answers and self or peer assessment marking time built into the lesson.
The same packs are also available for year 8, 9, 10 and 11, as the information, depth and difficulty builds up through the year group.
