Chicken Licken descriptive writing

(1)
Weeky plan for simple descriptive writing based around Chicken Licken. This would probably be better suited to earlier on in the year as the model text and outcomes are very simple. In my plan I have tried to put a a big emphasis on orally composing and practising basic sentences in line with the new curriculum. By the way, apologies for the fact that it is written in a black box! I can't seem to fix that.

The texts can be used in a variety of ways: - to introduce and explain the key features of a Non-chronological report - as a starting point for children to plan their own reports - as a reading activity to challenge children to retrieve information and vocabulary The subject matter - witches and dragons - will engage and interest lots of children.

Decodable book for Phase 2/3 book

Simple home-made book I made for Year 1 during their first full week back at school to get them used to sounding out + blending words. The pictures are all the same to stop the children from guessing or using picture clues and get them to rely on phonemic strategies. The children will draw their own pictures as an extension activity. I intend to make some more of these books over the forthcoming weeks.
