Primary School Songs for Singing! This power-point is full of super songs for primary school use, in the classroom and for singing assembly. They are sorted alphabetically and in topics. Apologies - Many songs have backing tracks but I am unable to upload these here. I have used this resource more than any other in my 20-year teaching career!

Phase 3: Draw the 'sound buttons' activity. Complete set of Phase 3 phonemes and graphemes. 1. Child draws a sausage [a line] under the grapheme being learned, e.g. ai, ee, igh, oa, etc. 2. They then draw a bean [a small dot] for each single phoneme and sausages for graphemes that make one sound [e.g. ch sh th...]. An example is done on each page. 3. The 'sausages and beans' then become the Sound Buttons, so the child then 'presses' the sound buttons and sound out to blend each word. The word list can be used for writing too.

Use every day when teaching spellings - 31 strategies to teach children when they they are working on their spellings. After you have introduced them, pupils will begin to have their own favourite strategies which they will use regularly. Present daily in a powerpoint. Print off and display in the classroom. Send home for use.

Telling the Time - analogue faces - 12 times to practise independently... o'clock, half-past, quarter past / quarter to, 5 past / 5 to, 10 past /10 to, 20 past / 20 to, 25 past / 25 to. Great for independent learning. Ideally, children share a 1-12 dice which they roll and then draw the minute and hour hands on each clock according to the number on the dice. Makes a great 'Time' booklet.

Phase 5: magic 'e' / split digraph [mixed a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e] word table cards. Children use the long vowels a, e, i, o, u, to complete the words given. In doing so, they get used to trying the different long vowels in each word. There can be more than one option for them to choose from. Once the list is made, pupils change cards. They also read them back to you to check their reading of these magic 'e' words.

Over 100 poems collated from many sources - poets names are given where possible. The poems are available through each topic content page. Please accept that some poems are only 'loosely' connected to the topic concerned! Great for having available through each day for poetry reciting and learning by heart! Print them off for Poetry Books to take home.

If the root word ends in a ‘y’, change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and then add ‘ly’ [angrily, cheekily]. 3. If the root word ends in ‘-le’, the ‘-le’ is changed to ‘-ly’ [cuddly, gently]. 4. A complete set of table cards for Letters & Sounds Phase 2 Set 4 GPCs for children to use in their group according to their need. Children copy and complete each word with the the missing GPC they are learning. Teachers constantly ask children to say the sound [phoneme] and each word, sounding out and blending if necessary. Most words have a picture for support and understanding. These cards are best printed, laminated and stored for constant use through the year and beyond.
