SWST Single Word Spelling Test: Levels 1 - 6 power-points and word lists. The teaching power-points and [pupil] lists have only the words listed in SWST. You can add your own words to these, as I do to enhance them. Original Word files also attached. The lists can be used as you see fit - teaching, consolidation, revision, small groups etc. of spellings.

Primary School Songs for Singing! This power-point is full of super songs for primary school use, in the classroom and for singing assembly. They are sorted alphabetically and in topics. Apologies - Many songs have backing tracks but I am unable to upload these here. I have used this resource more than any other in my 20-year teaching career!

Phase 3: Draw the 'sound buttons' activity. Complete set of Phase 3 phonemes and graphemes. 1. Child draws a sausage [a line] under the grapheme being learned, e.g. ai, ee, igh, oa, etc. 2. They then draw a bean [a small dot] for each single phoneme and sausages for graphemes that make one sound [e.g. ch sh th...]. An example is done on each page. 3. The 'sausages and beans' then become the Sound Buttons, so the child then 'presses' the sound buttons and sound out to blend each word. The word list can be used for writing too.

Use every day when teaching spellings - 31 strategies to teach children when they they are working on their spellings. After you have introduced them, pupils will begin to have their own favourite strategies which they will use regularly. Present daily in a powerpoint. Print off and display in the classroom. Send home for use.

Telling the Time - analogue faces - 12 times to practise independently... o'clock, half-past, quarter past / quarter to, 5 past / 5 to, 10 past /10 to, 20 past / 20 to, 25 past / 25 to. Great for independent learning. Ideally, children share a 1-12 dice which they roll and then draw the minute and hour hands on each clock according to the number on the dice. Makes a great 'Time' booklet.

Phase 5: magic 'e' / split digraph [mixed a-e, e-e, i-e, o-e, u-e] word table cards. Children use the long vowels a, e, i, o, u, to complete the words given. In doing so, they get used to trying the different long vowels in each word. There can be more than one option for them to choose from. Once the list is made, pupils change cards. They also read them back to you to check their reading of these magic 'e' words.

KS1 Poetry [power-point] a selection of poetry for KS1 topics [Art, Buildings, Change and Grow, Journeys, Then and Now, The Sea]. Over 100 poems collated from many sources - poets names are given where possible. The poems are available through each topic content page. Please accept that some poems are only 'loosely' connected to the topic concerned! Great for having available through each day for poetry reciting and learning by heart! Print them off for Poetry Books to take home.

Year 3 spellings: prefixes: un-, dis-, mis-, in-, il-, im-, ir-. Presentation [ppt] and table/group cards

Year 3 spellings: suffix -ly [adverb]: 4 main rules: Presentation [ppt] and table cards for each main rule [1-4]. 1. Just add -ly [gladly, quietly]. 2. If the root word ends in a ‘y’, change the ‘y’ to an ‘i’ and then add ‘ly’ [angrily, cheekily]. 3. If the root word ends in ‘-le’, the ‘-le’ is changed to ‘-ly’ [cuddly, gently]. 4. If the root word ends in ‘-ic’, add ‘-ally’ [comically, magically]. 5. Exceptions

Year 3 & 4 Spellings - this power-point has all the Y3 & 4 spellings from the NC 2014 Appendix 1, all in one place! Really useful for daily spelling sessions, revisiting, teaching and applying. Download and put a shortcut on your desktop and you're ready to go!

A complete set of table cards for Letters & Sounds Phase 2 Set 4 GPCs for children to use in their group according to their need. Children copy and complete each word with the the missing GPC they are learning. Teachers constantly ask children to say the sound [phoneme] and each word, sounding out and blending if necessary. Most words have a picture for support and understanding. These cards are best printed, laminated and stored for constant use through the year and beyond.

Phase 2, Set 3, g, o, c, k table cards for groups learning these GPCs, its sound and some sample words with that GPC in. Children copy and complete each word, read them back. They can also use hi-lighter pens to hi-light the GPC they are learning and choose a word to write a sentence or two. They are best printed, laminated and stored for regular use each year.

Phase 2 Set 1 - s, a, t, p Letters and Sounds table cards - these are for children to make and write their words using the grapheme they are learning. These A5 cards are best laminated and used year after year.

Phase 3, A5 table cards for learning the spelling of the phonemes oi, ear, air, ure, and [short] er. Can be printed on card or laminated for group use.

These are cards that you could laminate, to use with a group or class. Activities could include: Children… write the words in their phonics books, including the new phoneme highlight the new phoneme in their words read the word back Choose some words to write some sentences

Phase 5: u-e grapheme [magic 'e' - split digraph]: table cards [joined-up or Sassoon font], activities, game and presentation of u-e words. Including A5 pictures with words, picture cards and words to match in What's in the Box Game, Add the Sound Buttons [Cumberland sausages and beans], and power-point word bank of u-e words.

Phase 2 Set 2 - i, m, n, d, table cards - for a phonic group. Children write/copy each word on the card into their phonic books, adding the letter/grapheme they are learning that day. The card can be printed in A5 or A4 size and laminated for further use. Children can then write sentence using their words
