Adapted from exploring Science, worksheet about the life and works of Edward Jenner. Comprehension style task.

I have struggled to find resources for this in the past so I have made this one. It starts off with methods for the tests for: alcohols, hydrocarbons and carboxylic acids and works up to take students through results, conclusions, structures and functional groups and to the Distinction level explaining the reactions. Covers 3 pieces of criteria for Unit 5.

Log book for practical work originally designed for the BTEC Level 2 Applied Science Unit 9 where students need to research, devise, carry out and critically analyse, conclude and evaluate their own project. The log book was designed to be completed in class and as homework to guide students through the criteria within the brief. There are check points for the teacher to sign off throughout the booklet and a student submission form to complete at the end of the booklet before submission. Could be adapted for use on other courses e.g. for practice GCSE ISAs etc.

A revision workbook designed to summarise the key learning points as pictures, diagrams and tables. Great for homework or independent study and in preparation for doing exam style questions of mock exams.

Poster task activity to get students thinking about 'biodegradable' plastics and the different ways we can recycle our waste. Covers the new Core Science A Chemistry ch5 plastics and polymers. Final page is a teacher answer sheet for the card sort.

Designed for the BTEC Level 2 Applied Science Course (Unit 7 - NQF). Students are required to "Analyse the effectiveness of different kinds of medical treatment in health care using secondary data". The data tables are provided for students to analyse, decide on appropriate treatments and then explain their choices. Previously a free resource that gained 3x 5 star ratings.

Written specifically for EDEXCEL Biology B but may be applicable to other courses. A mixture of multiple choice, short answers, labeling diagrams, completing diagrams, long answers questions and longer/essay style questions. Originally designed for the BTEC Level 3 QCF course - Unit 13 Biochemistry and Biochemical Techniques There are 7 activities to work through including; labelling sugars, constructing 3D sugar molecules, labelling DNA and RNA structures and drawing bases, summarising key differences between RNA and DNA (sort card activity with teacher answers).

Sort card activity - Teacher - cut out and stick the enzyme shapes back to back and cut down the middle shape lines Students - match up the shapes! Unscramble the anagrams to find the name of the enzyme and fill in the gap to state the substrate broken down by that enzyme. Worksheet builds on enzymes and key words are on the enzyme cards to use within the worksheet. Previously a 5 star rated free resource with over 3700 downloads!!

Core Science/Science A, tailored for AQA but helpful for all specifications and exam boards. I saw posters up in a Liverpool school of this task during a PGCE training day and designed an activity sheet with a levelled task that has gone down well year after year with students.

Activity to arrange electrons onto electron shells and a worksheet to fill in about atomic structure and electronic structure of the first 20 elements. Designed for BTEC Level 2 Applied Science but would work well for Additional Sciences and other Chemistry lessons. Ionic bonding sheet continues on and the same activity using the electrons and shells can be used again to aid understanding of how electrons are lost and gained between metal and non-metals. Great for kinaesthetic and visual learners. Any feedback appreciated.

Designed for my BTEC level 2 Applied Science students for Unit 19 (NQF). The worksheet has video links, a couple of questions and activities for students around the methodology and reasoning behind column chromatography. The particular focus is on separating chlorophyll in plants. I made this mainly because it is so hard to actually do as a class practical and it just made it easy to understand for my students and a simple write-up supports their assignment work for methods of chromatography. Enjoy :) NB the last question should show some indication of a row of test tubes with extracted samples in the order that they exited the column. This is obviously different to the paper and TLC where they have the colours separated up the paper or membrane.
