Insights into popular topics, important dates and what teachers are searching for
October half term should be all about rest and relaxation after the hectic first eight weeks of the academic year, though we know that some authors use their week off to get ahead on their resources and planning. If you’re trying to lay the groundwork to avoid the madness of the long haul to Christmas, we can help!
Did you see our autumn insights blog post back in September? We created an overview of hot topics, key dates and popular search terms, based on site data and statistics, to make your resource planning as easy and informed as possible.
As part of this, we have a November highlights poster and there are A4 guides that summarise planning hints for primary and for secondary English, maths and science.
November is packed with events, festivals and celebrations that are easy to incorporate into your teaching and the resources you publish.
In terms of highlights for primary, Bonfire Night teaching materials are always amongst the top downloads at this time of year. Anti-Bullying Week ranks highly too, with cyber bullying resources being particularly sought after by secondary teachers.
Charles Dickens is popular across secondary and primary at this time of year, especially schemes of work on A Christmas Carol.
The demand for Christmas-themed resources gathers momentum throughout November. Festive curriculum-based lessons are popular at the start of December, but as the end of term approaches, quizzes, games and seasonal activities are most wanted.
Hint! Check out the special Christmas section on our insights documents below to find out teachers' favourite resource types, subject areas and texts.
