TES Maths ROTW: Loads of starters
TES Maths Resource of the Week
Resource title: Loads of starters
What is it?
A collection of starter activities for all year groups from Year 7 right up to sixth form. Each starter is displayed on a single PowerPoint slide, and many of them have answers included too.
On each slide there is an indication of the set of the class the starter was aimed at, so you have an idea of the type of class the author pitched the problem at. A whole range of topics are covered from basic arithmetic in Year 7, right up to functions at A-level.
How can it be used?
Make sure you are sitting down for this wonderful piece of insight from your TES Maths Adviser – these could be used… at the start of the lesson! Yes, they are ideal for banging up on the board to get your students thinking and there are enough different topics covered to provide plenty of variety throughout the year.
Furthermore, starters aimed at lower Year 9 sets are likely to be suitable for higher ability Year 7s sets and so on. But these starters can also be used as extension work for any students who finish their classwork, as homework, or even cover work. And as they are on PowerPoint, they are all completely adaptable and editable.
