Activity Pack to go 'worksheet-less' for a Classics trip to the British Museum

Activity Pack to go 'worksheet-less' for a Classics trip to the British Museum

I use this for our Year 9 trip to the British Museum. It is inspired by Richard Woff who gave us some great INSET on 'worksheet-less' activities to engage students. This is a sheet - but it can be downloaded onto ipads and it's just giving the students four activities to do: film a shopping-channel advert, create a Kahoot (or similar) quiz, write a murder-mystery story and create the 'treasured possessions' of King Cogidubnus. It can be adapted for any museum trip!

MESSALINA FLASHCARDS WITH DEFINITIONS. WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542

MESSALINA FLASHCARDS WITH DEFINITIONS. WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542

There are 10 packs of flashcards one for each paragraph of the prescribed text. I have made flashcards for every single word in the text. This is perfect for ensuring that you or your class know all the latin, so the literature test runs as smoothly as possible. Knowing the latin is essential before the exam and you will not have the time to look up the translations and for the majority of the trickier words, WJCE does not give the translations in the exam. All of the latin words I have included are in their conjugated form and appear like they do on the actual test so no brain power is needed when doing the exam. It is an extremely value resource and will certainly save time and boost your grade.

MESSALINA WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542 - ANNOTATIONS AND NOTES.

MESSALINA WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542 - ANNOTATIONS AND NOTES.

Extremely detailed handwritten annotations for each section of the prescribed text - Messalina. These notes are very condensed so, although they were written on A4, if you can I would advise that they are printed on A3 just so they are easier to read (the print is still legible at A4 size, however). These notes are more than enough to guarantee you an A* at GCSE WJCE Level 2 Latin literature, the annotations include notes on style, grammar, word positioning, literary devices, and the effect of all of the above. These notes are directly tailored to the WJCE:9542 specification and have been organized with lots of colors, making it a perfect resource for students and teachers - as you go through the text section by section you can make sure you do not miss anything, this will give you a structured lesson and efficient revision. For every section, there is one page of annotations on the official Latin text (the exact same copy will be available in the exam you take in May/June 2017)

Ancient Civilizations Inventors Extraordinaire IB PYP Unit of Inquiry

Ancient Civilizations Inventors Extraordinaire IB PYP Unit of Inquiry

Take the children back in time. Be the Miss Frizz of your classroom with this complete IB PYP unit of inquiry. Where We Are in Place and Time: Ancient Civilizations contributed to today’s society. This is one of my favourite social studies units of inquiry. By delving back in time, thousands and thousands of years, the children can explore the concept of time and exactly how life was like back in time, how the ancient inventions brought change to society and how they have impacted our life today. I have taught this unit of inquiry for 5 years, with both 3rd grade and 5th grade. Each time, I find that it is one of my favourite. There is so much to explore. With over 100 pages of interactive, hands on , engaging, inquiry based activities, this transdisciplinary unit will take you through math, science, geography, reading for information and, of course, history. As we travelled through time with our toilet paper timeline, we explored the cradle of civilization: The Mesopotamians. From there, we travelled into North Africa to visit the Ancient Egyptians. The inquiries came flooding fast and furiously as we learned more and more about how people lived way back then through hands on technology experiments, design experiments, research, communication and much ,much more. How do they sail back up the river? How did they move such enormous rocks to build the pyramids? How did the wheel begin? How do scientists come up with ideas?Who invented math? How did our writing evolve from their symbols of writing? Why do they have different gods? What happened to their gods?Learning how to read clues from artefacts and also from evidence in the text, helped us to become incredible historians as we had to figure out the source of ancient artwork. This involved a lot of reading for information, analysing text and recognising non fiction text features. Through explorations within math, reading, writing, geography, history and art, the children gather knowledge of how ancient civilizations developed and contributed to societies today. If you enjoy this complete unit of inquiry, you may also like my others: Revolutionaries, Rainforests and Food Chains, Adaptations of Living Things, Exploring poetry, Exploring Explorers and many more found in my blog store.Enjoy! MESSALINA WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542 - Brief Notes on Grammar

MESSALINA WJCE GCSE LATIN LITERATURE: NARRATIVES 9542 - Brief Notes on Grammar

For every paragraph, using Quizlet, I have put the details of the verbs and nouns in a comprehensive ordered page. When analysing the text you need to refer to the right type of word and although you can workout these details it is a big time saver and you can always check that you have deduced the right tense with this resource. In the exam, you should comment on the use of the "present participle", for example, and the effect. Correctly identifying the type of word is a huge part of the course and is a sure way to guarantee marks (making sure you comment on the EFFECT as well as what is detailed in these resources).

This assessment scored 50/50 marks in the summer of 2016 after being moderated by WJCE. It is a great resource for students and teachers to see what is needed to score full marks. The poem used is included in the document both the latin and English. I have also included a draft so you can see the development of this students Task A and exactly how the final product should look.
