CHANGING PLACES AQA A-LEVEL: LOCAL PLACE STUDY

CHANGING PLACES AQA A-LEVEL: LOCAL PLACE STUDY

This lesson has been designed to meet the criteria for the new AQA A Level Geography topic on Changing Places; Place studies - as per the specification and SOW guides published. This resource has been designed to facilitate the independent research required, in a manner which I hope will remove many of the frustrations of accessing and finding appropriate secondary data.Lesson description:- Clear learning objectives and success criteria are outlined based on the specification.- Main learning tasks: + Recap/modelling of place in context with student task to introduce the location and locale of their place is provided on slide 5. Key terms and key ideas outlined clearly.+ Key requirements for each section of the place study are clearly outlined on 'task' slides, followed by guidance and weblinks to secondary research sites for facilitate and enable students to effectively complete their place studies. I have also included the AQA guidance booklet which I used as a starting point, although many of the suggested data was difficult to access so clear pathways to appropriate and accessible secondary resources are provided on this PPT.- Further reading - This includes hyperlinks for key resources as well as further reading, with some directed links to Whitby, Hipperholme and a borough of Harrogate (my students local place studies)!
