This lesson involves pupils working in groups to produce an election campaign for one of the claimants to the throne in 1066. (Before the Battle of Hastings lesson) The PowerPoint goes through the claimants to the throne in 1066 which allows students to work in groups for the election campaign task. The CV worksheet provides students with extra information to support with the group task. The election task work sheet gives clear instructions alongside extension tasks to enable students to complete high quality group work.

Just finished this assembly with my Y5 class, it went so well and they loved it. It involves an 'X factor' style show where each Greek god auditions to be king of the gods, whilst telling the audience a little bit about the Ancient Greeks. It involves throwing confetti at the audience, a dance routine to music from Disney's Hercules, and a boy dressing up as Cheryl Cole....if you want. Adapt and use as you want. Enjoy.
