Sport Idioms

Sport Idioms

Sport related idioms. Let students guess and figure out the meaning, before give them the definition - then they have to use the idiom to make sentences. Where the origin of the idiom is not obvious, I put it in brackets. This can be done as a game or competition. Enjoy!

Olympic Sports Crossword - Rio 2016

Olympic Sports Crossword - Rio 2016

This is an Olympic Sports Crossword puzzle aimed at P3-7 (Years 2-6 ish) which I made to use with my P3 (Y2) class as an introduction to all the sports at Rio 2016.First they brainstormed in pairs all the sports they knew already. They then attempted the wordsearch and were encouraged to share ideas within and outwith their pairings. Finally, we all came together and were able to complete a class copy of the wordsearch using their collective knowledge and deductions. They then got allocated Olympic events to plan a reasonable way in which they could approximate them using school grounds and resources. We had loads of fun with all this and hope to use their ideas in our end of topic round-up afternoon. I hope you enjoy doing some activities around it with your classes too!
