Les vêtements et les couleurs (French clothes and colors) US version 6 lessons! 5th Grade

This topic is about the items of clothing (26 in total!) and using the colors according to the gender of the clothes. This is the US version due to the different spelling of the word "color" in the UK. Children will learn how to describe the clothes they are wearing but also other people's clothes. (Colors should have been done before this topic!) These lessons are suited for 5th Grade and beyond. This topic will last 6 weeks (1 hour lesson per week). Some powerpoint presentations are a bit heavy as there are lots of pictures and sounds in them. There are lots of activities and games. The 5 skills (listening, understanding, speaking, writing and reading) are all present. With cute and happy cartoons, the topics are adapted for children and motivate them to learn French while having fun! It is made for teachers who speak French but also those who don't! The lessons are all very easy to follow. The lesson plan and audio sounds of the vocabulary are there to help you learn and pronounce the words beforehand! It includes:- 8 Powerpoint presentations- 1 lesson plan- 1 lesson sheet (US) about clothes and colours ( key vocabulary for the children)- 1 HA worksheet worksheet (US) (Assessment)- 1 LA worksheet worksheet (US) (Assessment)- Counters for a game- 1 word search- 4 Smartboard activities (Smart Notebook software)- Audio clips of vocabulary (in the powerpoints to practice beforehand)- Information documents (About, Advice and tips, Copyright)

Y8 Clothes topic Challenge Tasks

Y8 Clothes topic Challenge Tasks

Challenge tasks or extension work on the topic of clothes. These are all based on authentic French resources (mainly infographs found on Pinterest) with comprehension questions added. I put these up on my 'Challenge Wall' in the classroom for the term and direct any students to them who finish their work early. To save photocopying costs I encourage students not to write on the sheets and to put them back on the wall when they're finished. I find that students get a huge sense of achievement from knowing that they are reading and understanding real French literature! As an extra incentive to try more difficult work I offer 'challenge stars' in return for tackling these tricky tasks. These are converted periodically into merits.

This progressive resource is aimed at students learning French at low and higher levels. It contains a list of regular and irregular verbs related to the shopping topic. The conjugation of irregular verbs and verbs with spelling changes is included. Students can refer to it when doing the activities. The tenses used in the exercices are: present, perfect, imperfect, future, conditional and pluperfect. Students can fill the gaps with just the tense you are studying. I have also included the answers in French as well as in English so that the resource can be used to practice translating (some notes were added to help doing just that). This resource allows me to check the progress of my students: Once they master the present, perfect, imperfect and future, I ask them to do the conditional and pluperfect tenses exercices. The game 'Translate and reveal the French expression' can be used as homework or pair work (all tenses are needed except the pluperfect). You will also find in my shop fgibbison, some vocabulary, reading and listening (with recording) resources related to this topic and many other fun resources in English, German and Spanish.I would love to hear how you got on with this resource: Thank you for leaving a review.I thoroughly review my resources to ensure that they are accurate. FRENCH ~ LES VERBES ~ ACTIVITIES

FRENCH ~ LES VERBES ~ ACTIVITIES

A fun way to practise infinitive verbs in French. Contains images for: avoirêtreallerfaire (les devoirs)regarderjouerparler (French flag)habitermangerécouter / entendretravaillerrentrer porterécriredessinerdormirdemander / répondreconduireoffrirchoisirdireboirevoirlireaimerThe game is based on the game show BLOCKBUSTERS where the aim is to complete a line of connecting hexagonal shapes either from side to side or from top to bottom. To gain control of a shape, students have to name the infinitive verb to gain control of the shape. This could be extended by saying a whole sentence. Use a dice to find out which 'person' your sentence starts with. E.g. 1=je, 2= tu, 3=il/elle/on, 4/nous, 5/vous and 6/ils/elles. There is also practice for matching words to pictures and an exercise for writing sentences, which will be a help when they play the game. Have fun. My students did! If you consider this worth buying, 'un très grand merci. My thanks to: cliparts.com, clker.co and clipartbest.com for the use of the clipart images.
