Food Challenge Tasks

Food Challenge Tasks

A selection of 'Challenge Tasks' on the topic of food. These are based on authentic French resources (mainly infographs found on Pinterest) with comprehension questions added. I put these up on my 'Challenge Wall' in the classroom for the term and direct any students to them who finish their work early. To save photocopying costs I encourage students not to write on the sheets and to put them back on the wall when they're finished. I find that students get a huge sense of achievement from knowing that they are reading and understanding real French literature! As an extra incentive to try more difficult work I offer 'challenge stars' in return for tackling these tricky tasks. These are converted periodically into merits.

Murder mystery lesson - food & drink

Murder mystery lesson - food & drink

Thinking skills on food & drink - a family have been poisoned, pupils use clues é menu to work out what they chose in the restaurant é which food they all had in their meal that poisoned them (IT WAS THE CHEESE).With low ability groups I gave clues in English but most groups should be fine with clues in French, maybe with some vocab to help.EDIT - people have asked if it's OK for them to adapt this for other languages and upload it. That's fine as long as you put a link to this resource and credit me with the original, and if you are sharing it freely. Glad you like it!

A lesson plan and information sheets on French speciality dishes. The information sheets cover 4 starters, 5 main courses and 4 desserts. All sheets come in three levels: Paragraphs, information in bullet points, bullet points with simpler information and larger font to allow for differentiation. A table tout le monde studio 2 rouge

A table tout le monde studio 2 rouge

Module 4 unit 3Power point teaching food, followed by a real food tasting where pupils need to go around the room, taste the French food and express an opinion on it. Very funny activity and it worked really well with my students. At the end they do a writing task where they use the opinions (c'est trop sucré, c'est trop salé, ça me fait vomir etc...) to compare food, hence it recaps also food. To go well with the chapter in the book.
