French GCSE – Une histoire mystérieuse – imperfect, perfect and pluperfect tenses.

French GCSE – Une histoire mystérieuse – imperfect, perfect and pluperfect tenses.

This resource is to actively practise and use the 3 past tenses – imperfect, perfect and pluperfect. It goes through a revision of each tense with exercises to check comprehension for each tense and an accompanying worksheet. Then the main text is introduced which is part of a ‘mysterious story’. This is first as a listening activity with two different exercises to complete and a worksheet. The text is then used as a reading comprehension with a range of questions, grammar and writing activities to complete. The final writing activity involves creative writing, as students need to provide their own ending to the mystery. Answers to activities are on the PowerPoint. This should certainly take two – three lessons.

Using poetry in the French classroom workbook.

Using poetry in the French classroom workbook.

This 29 page workbook allows pupils and teachers to explore the use of poetry in the French classroom. It has become particularly relevant as a source for implementing the literature component of the new 2014 MFL national curriulum. It starts with simple shape poetry activities and moves gradually to other, more difficult, writing tasks (often with a grammar focus). The booklet includes ways to tackle original poems such as 'Déjeuner du matin' within language lessons. It also contains suggestions for some multimedia, cross-curricular responses to poetry.
