GCSE German Translation and Reading workbook

GCSE German Translation and Reading workbook

64 page workbook plus separate book containing answers. This resource uses texts from the old specification foundation reading GCSE papers (AQA and Edexcel). It is organised into 7 sections - topics from the new specification GCSE (both AQA and Edexcel). This workbook could last the students for their entire GCSE course, using the worksheets as you go through each of the topics.Alternatively, it could be used for cover lessons, homework, revision, or extension activities. It is designed to help students with their reading and translation skills. Students read the texts, then translate in the tables underneath, then complete the task which was originally on the exam papers. The sentences are divided into bitesize chunks in the tables to enable students to read and translate more easily. This is challenging for even the A*/Grade 7-9 students and makes them focus on vocabulary, sentence structure and creating 'proper' English sentences from German texts. Please comment below if there are any mistakes!

GERMAN SPEAKING PROMPTS - 100 CARDS & REFERENCE BOOKLET (4) - SEPARABLE VERBS PERFECT TENSE

GERMAN SPEAKING PROMPTS - 100 CARDS & REFERENCE BOOKLET (4) - SEPARABLE VERBS PERFECT TENSE

PERFECT FOR PRACTICING SEPARABLE VERBS (1) IN THE PERFECT TENSE AND DEVELOPING LANGUAGE SKILLS IN GERMAN!PERFECT for speaking practice, and multi-skill language learning, TALK TIME IN GERMAN is a set of 100 question and answer prompt cards that give your students structured talk opportunities, and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work. The prompt cards also feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in both earlier and more intermediate stages of their GERMAN learning, including modal verbs, word order, case and prepositions governed by the accusative and dative. I've classed the resource as suitable for Grades 8-12, as it really does depend on the age at which your students began their GERMAN learning, and the stage they're currently working at.The reference booklet includes all the questions and answers written out in full. Students use the NOTES AND NEXT STEPS template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning. The question and answer writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their GERMAN very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other. This is a great team activity too. You can also use the prompt cards for a whole range of games, and I've described how to play several games and activities that you can start with. The prompt cards do take a bit of prep: printing and laminating. Laminating is definitely recommended, as you’ll be able to use the cards for years to come. Students should ideally have their own individual reference booklet that they can keep in their learning folders to use for reference, practice and revision when they need to.SETS 1 & 2 are available as a combined resource at the special price of $6.00, as are SETS 3 & 4 - have a look at them here:https://www.tes.com/us/teacher-lessons/german-speaking-prompts-200-cards-and-reference-booklets-1-and-2-11567176https://www.tes.com/us/teacher-lessons/german-speaking-prompts-200-cards-and-reference-booklets-3-and-4-separable-verbs-present-perfect-tense-11613711SETS 1-4, with 400 question and answer cards and accompanying reference booklets are here, priced at $11.00:https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/german-speaking-practice-400-prompt-cards-with-reference-booklets-sets-1-4-11610438The resource consists of two non-editable files in a zipped format; please read the TERMS OF USE carefully.VIELEN DANK UND VIEL SPAß!

German Fairy Tale "Der Hase un der Igel" - read, laugh, write

German Fairy Tale "Der Hase un der Igel" - read, laugh, write

Revising for written exams and/or need an enjoyable German lesson?Motivate students to learn and write with a humourous, lesser-known Grimms fairy tale with colourful slides and parallel English text. This lesson meets requirements for Key Stage 3 writing and grammar, but is adaptable to other levels. First focus on reading and guessing meaning from context, then use the story’s sentences as templates to consolidate use of sentence structure & some grammar items. Students are motivated by the humour and the opportunity to be creative. The lesson can be divided into 2 45-minute sessions or used in part as desired.

GERMAN GCSE SPEAKING EXAM NEW SPEC SUPPORT BOOKLET/WORKBOOK

GERMAN GCSE SPEAKING EXAM NEW SPEC SUPPORT BOOKLET/WORKBOOK

(Newly added note - I've just gone to download the booklet from school, having produced it at home, and the formatting is different, must be a different version of Word. So I've gone through again and amended. If anyone has bought this one and would like the other version, please comment and I'll send it to you. Thanks) I've used the new AQA specimen papers to create this comprehensive booklet which will support GCSE pupils in their learning for the Speaking exams. Although I've used the AQA specimen, I'm sure this would be very usable for Edexcel too. Included on here is the English and example answers for all sections - role-play, photo cards and general conversation, for both higher and foundation, plus the mark scheme and the example cards. There's also a tracker, lots of explanations and a list of high frequency words which can be used for testing. There are two sections for them to practise their own answers and they can fold the papers over for better testing. Students can pair up and take turns to be the examiner and they can check their answers with the mark scheme. I plan to give this to my year 10 class in chunks at a time, so we have continued work on one section at a time as we go through - this booklet will feature heavily in homework I set my year 10s for the next year and a half! (Could also be given as advanced prep to year 9s). This has taken an enormous amount of time so I'd appreciate any feedback. If you spot a mistake, please be gentle ;) but please let me know. I phoned up the exam board and checked that they were happy for me to do this and that I wasn't showing anything I shouldn't, and it's all fine :) Hope it's really useful!

Quiz Quiz Trade Speaking Cards on the Future Tense with hobbies/free time

Quiz Quiz Trade Speaking Cards on the Future Tense with hobbies/free time

A class set of Quiz Quiz Trade cards which practise the future tense with the topic of hobbies/free time activities. The cards include sections in brackets which can be translated for extra challenge. For example, needing to use inversion with 'morgen'.How Quiz Quiz Trade works:Every student gets a card. They get up, and find a partner. They 'quiz' their partner by reading out an English sentence for them to translate. Once both partners have done a translation, they swap cards and find another partner.I like to give students a certain amount of time and for them to see how many conversations they can have in that time.

Guided writing - Booklet for "Café in Berlin"

Guided writing - Booklet for "Café in Berlin"

This is a booklet I made for my Year 11 students to independently work with the book "Café in Berlin" at home. THe book can be bought at amazon and contains very entertaining and authentic short stories, written from the perspective of a Sicilian young man who recently moved to Germany and try to learn German. My students loved the stories and asked me to buy more of those books. The students will read the stories (one at a time) and use the booklet to write short personalised texts using the guided questions. Before writing, the students will answer the comprehension questions that come with each story in the book and they will write down a "vocabulary TOP 10" of interesting, important or new words. This booklet can be adapted to any of your needs. The guided questions can also be used as discussion questions in class after reading.I printed the file as a booklet and cut off the the bottom part of the pages to make the booklet smaller to fit into the exercise books. This is why the bottom parts are white. But you can change the layout as you wish ... add pictures or more lines for the writing parts, etc.

Pocket Money/Taschengeld/argent de poche Board Game

Pocket Money/Taschengeld/argent de poche Board Game

My students love playing this board game on the topic of Taschengeld/Argent de poche. There are loads of ways of playing it but here are a couple!1. Students work in groups of 2 or 3. They take it in turns to roll the dice. Students must say a sentence to describe what they have landed on. It is the first person to get to the end of the board game. 2. Students work in groups of 2 or 3. They are given a certain about of play money e.g. 100 euros. They must say a sentence to describe what they land on. If they land on a money square, they pick up this amount of money from the 'banker'. If it is a spending square, they must give that amount of money to the 'banker'. It is the person with the most money at the end of the game that wins.
