What is the Date? (Game for French / Spanish / German / Italian / Other Languages)

What is the Date? (Game for French / Spanish / German / Italian / Other Languages)

10 Four in a Row game boards for practising saying the date in French, Spanish, German, Italian and lots of other languages. I originally created this to help pupils answer the French question 'Quelle est la date?' but there is no reference to French on the boards so they can be used for other languages. Pupils will practise calendar vocabulary - months, days of the week and numbers to thirty-one.Includes:5 boards with the month and date5 further boards with the month, date and dayA fun language learning activity which is ideal for a starter, early finisher task, main lesson consolidation work or as part of a bank of revision activities. Print in either A3 or A4 and laminate for regular use. Individuals or pairs play against each other, taking it in turns to roll a dice before choosing a date in the correct column (columns are labelled 1-6) to say in the target language. If correct, they could put their symbol or initial over it in a wipeable pen or cover it with a counter of a different colour to their opponent. The first player/team to get 4 in a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally is the winner. With 10 boards in total, they can swap with other pairs/groups when finished to have another game.I hope your pupils enjoy playing this if you choose to buy it. I would be so grateful for a review if you get a spare moment. Many thanks. If teaching French, you might be interested in some of my other resources (games, worksheets, presentations, activities, puzzles) for that language. Creative writing - Spanish upper KS3- KS4

Creative writing - Spanish upper KS3- KS4

Fun lesson plan where students get in small groups to create a piece of creative writing using some prompt cards (a set of random images, not included here) which they pick from an envelop. All teams have to follow a number of steps listed in this presentation in order to make sure they include certain grammatical requirements in each paragraph and they pass their story around to the other groups who then are asked to mark the previous paragraph and add up more details to the story using a pen of a different colour. I also gave each team paper in a specific colour to write or you could ask each team to write the team name on the sheet if you choose to use white paper for all. I have done this lesson with a top set Year 8 and it worked really well. They had a lot of fun and it helped them with develop their writing and team work skills. Really easy to adapt to other year groups and abilities by changing grammar required and giving a different set of cards
