SHAKESPEARE'S HAT - WORKING WITH THE CHARACTERS

SHAKESPEARE'S HAT - WORKING WITH THE CHARACTERS

This works as an introduction to Shakespeare's characters and stories for young children. It also gives older pupils the experience of working with Shakespeare&'s raw materials of character, motive and props. This makes them think about how he wrote for the stage: crucial for gaining marks in Shakespeare exams! Please read Lesson Notes to understand how it works. I have provided two of the sheets in a version with cartoons: Characters and Props. Useful if you are doing this in an MFL. The other sheets would probably need a translation on the back. Have fun!

Dubbing a film-Conversation practice

Dubbing a film-Conversation practice

I showed the class the first 30 seconds of the video without the sound and the sheet with the screen shots and they had to write the script and then practice saying it while the video was playing. I let them choose whether they wanted to dub part or all of the extract. It was a lot of fun because it was quite difficult to keep up with the timing.I used it with a year 8 Spanish class on the topic of arranging to go out with someone but it could be used with any language, topic and year group.

She loves me, she loves me not

She loves me, she loves me not

This plan gives the bare bones of a play in which a man decides if a woman loves him by picking the petals from a daisy, then in a macabre twist a giant daisy decides if her beloved daisy loves her by picking the limbs from a man. Props need to be made, and dialogue written, but all the needed language is in the plan.
