Spanish Teaching Resources: Euro 2016 Football lesson.

Euro 2016 Resources Product Description.I have planned this lesson not only to teach vocabulary and facts about football, France and Euro 2016, but also to help the students to respond creatively to their learning and hopefully share their passion for football! The PowerPoint uses matching cards, colourful pictures and animations and YouTube extracts set to music to inspire the students. It is planned to use with students from Years 6-9 (the final task is very open-ended).Slide 2 shows a celebratory image of the 2012 winners – Spain!Slide 3 states the objective:Objectivo: To learn about el fútbol & Euro 2016 and to respond creatively to your learning.Slide 4 has a YouTube link to follow to use with the attached worksheet. This uses the official UEFA promotional video (3 mins 57 secs) and the worksheet builds vocabulary, cultural and factual knowledge such as the locations of the stadiums, their capacities, cultural images and numbers of matches, volunteers, teams etc. The worksheet is differentiated with an Extra! challenge section. The answers are on the first page of the worksheet.Slide 6 introduces key vocabulary and can be used with the matching cards. The students should work in pairs/ groups to match the vocabulary and the picture using their previous knowledge, cognates and a process of elimination. Vocabulary:Un futbolistaEl guardametaEl réferiEl estadioLa pelotaLa copaUna banderaUn equipoUna tarjeta amarillaLa canchaUna camisetaUnos botinesThe activity is differentiated as follows:All: Match Up!Most: Perfect Pronunciation Challenge! Some: Quick Fire Questions! What is beauty? - Parts of the body and face

What is beauty? - Parts of the body and face

These resources look at Spanish body parts and parts of the face. Students will work towards writing a two-sided essay discussing 'What is beauty?'. They will practice parts of the face and body and in the process use the present tense to write their own poems about body parts. They will address common agreement errors, they will take part in engaging Pictionary style listening tasks, and practise speaking using the game Guess who? Furthermore students will become detectives to dissect a text about beauty pageants, using cognates and additional skills to help understand texts. Lastly they will use body parts along with the verb 'Querrer' in order to prepare for their essay. This topic is fun and engaging, while interesting and thought-provoking - a great hit with students!! Resources are easily printable and adaptable to your SOWs or teaching style. If you like these resources please take a look at the others I have to offer :) Similarly please review so I know how to improve.

Dubbing a film-Conversation practice

Dubbing a film-Conversation practice

I showed the class the first 30 seconds of the video without the sound and the sheet with the screen shots and they had to write the script and then practice saying it while the video was playing. I let them choose whether they wanted to dub part or all of the extract. It was a lot of fun because it was quite difficult to keep up with the timing.I used it with a year 8 Spanish class on the topic of arranging to go out with someone but it could be used with any language, topic and year group.

Goldilocks in Spanish

Goldilocks in Spanish

I prepared these resources for World Book Day, thinking it would be a nice activity to do in MFL alongside the celebration of World Book Day. We first watched/listened to the story read out in Spanish on youtube (see link provided), using our knowledge of the story in English, cognates, pictures etc to work out the meaning of key words. Pupils then had to put the images of the storyboard back in order and match the Spanish card to each picture.

VERBS OR NOT? (Spanish and English versions)

VERBS OR NOT? (Spanish and English versions)

Spanish grammar Venn diagram activity -Pupils have 25 cards with words on them plus a Venn diagram in front of them. They have to sort the words into Verbs and Non-Verbs sections. This can be differentiated in 2 ways - the activity could be done with 25 English words first and secondly there is an extension task for more able pupils to categorise the Non-Verbs into nouns/adjectives and adverbs. This is a pre- Present Tense activity to re-cap what verbs actually look like and prevent pupils from putting verb endings onto the ends of nouns or adjectives.
