#### Hypothesis Test for a Population Mean - Analogy to a Criminal Trial

This is a student workbook that can supplement lessons on hypothesis tests for a population mean. I teach the stages of hypothesis testing using analogies to a criminal trial. My students like this comparison; they are more engaged and it helps them to see the relevance of the different stages. Once students are confident with the terminology, we create our own courtroom in the classroom and role-play the stages of hypothesis testing with students acting as the jury, prosecution, judge and defence.Contents of the workbook1. A summary of the 5 stages of hypothesis testing2. A detailed analogy to a criminal trial3. One worked example4. Space for students to complete their own examples.5. Worksheets on:a. the null and alternative hypothesisb. type I and type II errorsc. checking assumptionsd. sampling distributionse. the normal distributionf. the t-distributiong. interpreting p-valuesAnswers for worksheets provided in separate document. The preview file shows a selection of pages from the workbook.

#### Hypothesis testing and Chi-squared

This presentation introduces the students to hypothesis testing using normal distribution. It starts by explaining what a hypothesis test is, the key language used and also covers type 1 and type 2 errors. Also included is a presentation that shows students how to use Chi-squared test to find a goodness of fit. It covers all parts of chi-squared from a basic introduction to very clear examples, including using the standard results tables (don't forget to move them to show the answers underneath). It also goes on to contingency tables including Yates' correction.SMART Notebook Express presentations can be used for free by using SMART online or by downloading SMART software, also free, I use it because it allows a more interactive presentation than a powerpoint. Just search 'SMART Notebook Express' and try it with my free SMART resource.

#### Hypothesis testing with chi squared.

IB Studies class activities on chi squared, setting up hypothesis, understanding chi squared and p -values, contingency table, expected frequencies, using TI Nspire. A zipped file with two worksheets and two tns files.

#### Mann-Whitney U Test

A power point showing how and when to use the Mann-Whitney U statistical test and an worksheet guiding the students though calculating it using a geographical example. Includes teacher answer sheet.Great for teaching both old and New (2016) specification A level or AS level geography - designed for Edexcel but matches requirements of other specs such as AQA.Can also be used as an introduction to the test for biology, maths, psychology lessons etc.

#### Statistics and Probability

Discrete and continuous random variables, expectation algebra, chi-squares and goodness of fit, hypothesis testing, confidence levels CLT and distribution of sample means..

#### Hypothesis Testing.

Hypothesis testing, introduction, theory, examples, use of technology.

#### AQA Statistics 1 on a page

Revision sheet for AQA Statistics 3. Could be printed out A4 to use as a revision aide-memiore or A3 to use as a poster.

#### Statistics 2

This bundle includes all the topics needed to cover the S2 AQA course including; Discrete and Continuous Random Variables Poisson Distribution Estimation Hypothesis Testing Chi-squared

#### Use Data to Draw Inferences - 7.SP.2

Collect and utilize multiple samples of data to make generalizations about a population. Attention should be paid to variations in the samples Scaffolded lesson provides for classroom differentiation. Can be used as a lesson leader, guided practice, independent practice, for cooperative learning and math centers, or as an assessment. Use with smartboard, projector, computer, pad or as printable. Lesson is complete - NO PREP. Editable version included.Objectives:- Make inferences based on of multiple random samples- Answer questions regarding populations and sampling- Determine total population based on samples- Make predictions regarding total populations- Describe a model for sampling dependent on populationIncludes 6 practice pages and answer keys.Aligned with NCCS Math - 7.SP.2Visit commoncoremath.net for additional help.

#### MEI stats 2 power point presentation

This presentation covers the Poisson distribution, The normal distribution, samples and hypothesis testing and Bivariate data. Including approximations and hints and tips. The resource is also extremely useful just before exams if printed out as flash cards to induce mathematical thinking before students enter an exam

#### A2 Full Notes for Hypothesis Testing

***IF YOU LIKE THIS PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER UNITS FOR A2 MATHS. BUY EACH UNIT SEPARATELY OR GET THE WHOLE PACK FOR £10!***These are my teaching notes for the CIE A2 Statistics Hypothesis Testing Unit. They include:- Continuous and Discrete Hypothesis Testing- Type I and II errors for both Continuous and Discrete distributions- Approximating a discrete distribution with continuous and then testingI've also included some powerpoints I use to introduce and then summarise and review the whole topicNotes include examples and explanations - essentially everything you would hope your students to copy down during the unit. The textbook exercise references are for the Nelson Mathematics Probability and Statistics Text (978-1-4085-1563-1). Which I highly recommend as an excellent text and which as been endorsed by Cambridge. Any other textbook references are indicated in the notes.Great for beginning teachers and also useful for students who are absent as you can print out a copy for their notes

#### S2 - Chapter 7 - Hypothesis Testing

Based on the Edexcel syllabus.

#### Statistics 2 - 15 min exam question challenges

A collection of exam question challenges for the Edexcel Statistics 2 specification. Each worksheet consists of 2 or 3 sets of questions arranged in difficulty order. Each set of questions should take between 15-20 minutes to complete. How they are used can be up to the teacher, I have used these as either starter or plenary activities during review lessons where students are given a choice of which set of questions to complete in the 15 minute time limit. Then in pairs or groups work through any problems they may have encountered.
