#### KS3 Perimeter, area, surface area, volume-Space exploration-adventure game

KS3 adventure game in which students answer perimeter, area, surface area, and volume questions in order to explore space. PLEASE REVIEW / COMMENT. Choose to explore Triangulum, which has easier questions on area of a parallelogram and a triangle, perimeter and area of a composite shape made from rectangles, surface area and volume of a cuboid. Then when completed, choose to explore Andromeda, which has more difficult problems involving perimeter of a rectangle and area of a triangle, area of a trapezium, surface area and volume of prisms. #### Maths Mat KS2 (7 - 11 year olds)

I’ve adapted some of the maths mats on this site to make a KS2 mat which could be used in a variety of ways in the classroom. The mat is double sided and would be a great resource laminated. The topics include: 100 square, multiplication grid, 2D and 3D shapes, Multiplying and Dividing by 10, 100 and 1000, Area and Perimeter, Place Value, Number Line, Blank Numberline, Fractions, decimals and percentages and Measurements. Topics also inlcuded: counting and understanding.

#### 2D and 3D Shape Bingo Cards

Set of bingo cards of basic 2d and 3d shapes. Enough cards for whole class if working in pairs. Squares have been made the same size as square post it notes so that children can stick post its over the shapes and the teacher can easily lift the flap and see if they are right. Alternatively, if laminated, children can mark of with whiteboard pens. I use real shapes in a bag which I pull out, then children mark off the ones they have.

#### KS2 Maths Vocab

Help children become familiar with different mathematics terms by matching and displaying these cards.

#### Pop up 3D nets & islamic patterns. Activity.KS3, 2

This is a great activity to help children understand the how nets are made up without all of those fiddily flaps! Just cut out the nets, glue the first side onto card and sew the dots in order, securing the ends together underneath the card. Then pull and the net comes together making a 3D shape fantastic. The paper also explains how to make islamic patterns.

#### 3D Shapes and Nets Matching Activity

Printout and cut-up the cards. Get pupils to work in pairs identifying name of shape, diagram of a 3D shape and the net of the shape. There is so many ways to deliver these resources. Enjoy !!! #### Maths lesson: 3d objects from 2d drawings. KS2 KS3

This is a great lesson to help children understand 2d drawings representing 3d objects. If you use it could you review it? The lesson uses websites listed on lesson plan. These involve isometric paper on the whiteboard, along with exploding 2d pictures of 3d shape blocks to help children visualise them more easily. Children predict from the worksheets how many blocks they can see and use real 3d blocks to confirm their predictions. Files attached with answers in case you are not sure (as the teacher)!

Slideshow: - Visually explains prisms & non-prisms - Names 12 common 3D shapes - Sorting hoop activity (groups). Give each table a box of 3D shapes - 3mins to sort into prism-non prism. Best done using Kagan squares. - Guess my shape activity (pairs). Hold 3D shape behind your back. Ask questions (i.e. is it a prism?) to guess partner's shape. - Guess the disappearing shape game (plenary). slide 18 onwards. Best done in groups using one whiteboard/scribe per group. Give 10secs for discussions before showing the answers.
