Sequence Ratio Worksheet - Differentiated

Sequence Ratio Worksheet - Differentiated

This is a nice activity to introduce the idea of ratio, by using sequences. Suitable for KS2.I found it useful to use pieces of card (e.g. 1 yellow for every 2 blue) to visually demonstrate beforehand (using volunteers - each holding the correct ratio) and show how to record this into a table on the whiteboard as you go, before using this resource as the main activity. I also allowed children to use counters at their table to aid them whilst completing the worksheet, as this was very beneficial to some learners.

End of the Year Review Unit {Ratios, Rates, & Inequalities Emphasis}

End of the Year Review Unit {Ratios, Rates, & Inequalities Emphasis}

This no prep project is the perfect way to wrap up the end of the year or to review for state tests like STAAR. In this project, students perform math calculations to set up a lemonade stand. Students will use ratios, rates, equations, inequalities, decimal operations, and percents to determine how to maximize their lemonade profits.The project uses four activities that students complete, each with its own instructional emphasis:•“The Set Up”…Finding Unit Rates•“The Recipe”…Proportionality and Percents•“The Money”…Proportionality and Decimal Operations•“The Profit”…Equations and InequalitiesThis unit can be used by students independently, in partners, or it can also be used for an interesting way to remediate and tutor students.

Ratio worded problems - FACT MAP activity

Ratio worded problems - FACT MAP activity

Resource aimed at upper KS2, KS3 or KS4 pupils studying ratio. Questions all stem from a single statement in the centre of the page. The questions are not linked to each other but they present different questions that could be asked from the single statement.Questions are colour coded in order of difficulty, with the most challenging questions asking students to link in other areas of the curriculum such as percentage profit and area. Questions are designed to offer 'real world' problems and could be used as a consolidation activity at the end of a unit on ratio.Extension problems are provided.Suggested introduction: Provide a similar statement on the board and ask students to suggest what questions could be asked. Alternatively, provide a few example questions and ask what fact might link the problems.

Engaging activity where students have problems to solve given a crime scenario clues

Engaging activity where students have problems to solve given a crime scenario clues

This is for Maths teachers looking to engage a class. You are given clues to a crime that has taken place (these are best cut up for students but to support lower attainers you could order the clues.) Students have some questions to answer by organising and completing calculations involving time, speed, and most of all problem solving skills. This activity will last a good ten minutes for a GCSE groups with targets grades of 4-5. I have used this with several groups over the past few years and student engagement is outstanding when doing the activity.
