Tiny Little Frogs

Tiny Little Frogs

This song is aimed at encouraging children to learn how to swim as a form of exercise. It is also important to mention that the aim of this song is to encourage children to take swimming lessons so they can learn to swim in a safe environment, this is why we have used the word pool instead of a pond in the lyric. The song describes frog movements both in water and on land. Also, included is an instrumental/karaoke version of the song and a PDF of the lyrics. A free PDF of the lyrics to all of our songs can be downloaded from www.melodytreehouse.com

Foudation Stage PE:Dance/Movement Medium Term Plan: Ourselves/My body

Foudation Stage PE:Dance/Movement Medium Term Plan: Ourselves/My body

This Medium Term plan links in with the theme: Ourselves and My body and was planned for a mixed Year R/1 class. The last two lessons are a bit more difficult and may be more suitable for Year 1. The children particularly enjoyed the lesson using the expression cards. I hope it is helpful!!

KS3 Dance - "Lindy Hop"

KS3 Dance - "Lindy Hop"

A detailed scheme of work within which pupils will be taught to compose, perform and appreciate differing genres of dance. Pupils will learn how to create and develop set material that communicates dance through the ages. Pupils will be expected to learn a set move, adapt it to suit their choreography and then develop it with a partner. Pupils will learn to develop such movements though the use of level, canon and unison, working in particular on lifts and floor work. Pupils will be watching video clips designed to test their conceptions and enhance their understanding of the development of Dance.

Story cards

Story cards

A set of cards divided into character, setting, object and time. Sprinkles uploaded some fantastic cards back in 2006 (http://www.tes.co.uk/article.aspx?storycode=3001354). I’ve used those original images, and then added quite a few extra ones. I use them with my Reception class for whole class storytelling. For older children, they’d also work as a stimulus for individual or group story writing.

Animal Stretches

Animal Stretches

A very simple powerpoint of simple warm-up stretches. I have named each one after an animal and display these images on the IWB in our gymnastics hall whilst warming up. As I explain the stretches I find it useful to show the images - they are especially helpful for EAL and SEN children.

Song for teaching counting

Song for teaching counting

This song is fantastic for teaching your class about numbers. I have used this as a cross-curricular resource for music and maths. My class loved it. I have also used the Nickjr website which has videos of other songs to sing with the children. As a class we then wrote additional verses using numbers up to 20.
