NATRE Spirited Arts RE lessons 2018

NATRE Spirited Arts RE lessons 2018

This is a set of 7 lessons, 8+ if you include the lesson for students to begin developing their piece of art work, to get students thinking about some of the NATRE Spirited Arts 2018 Themes. All lessons have at least one learning objective and some outcomes based on mastery skill levels/bands. There are 2 lessons on the ‘Holy Spaces’ theme, these are the first two within the PowerPoint. The first is pilgrimage and considering how and why places of pilgrimage are holy spaces then the second is a church lesson, why is this a holy space for Christians, with the opportunity for students to design their own church/holy space. The second theme is the ‘Pray! (Reflect! Meditate!)’ theme, there are 3 lessons on this theme. The first is a lesson on can songs be prayers linking to Tupac Ghetto Gospel, the second is using Bruce Almighty and the prayer focus within this film, what would happen if everyone got everything they wanted etc. The third is on Buddhist meditation to give a bit of religious varity and to show that different religions pray in different ways and if you have spare material students can create their own prayer flag. The third theme is the theme of ‘Faith and Doubt’, there are 2 lessons on this, an introduction to philosophy and how big questions can lead to doubt within religion and then an evil and suffering lesson.

Inspirational People - Presentation and activities

Inspirational People - Presentation and activities

Work for a few lessons on Inspirational People, both historical and contemporary and male and female. Ideal for RS and/or PHSE work. Suitable for Years 5-10 but all files are editable and can be adapted to suit differing needs and abilities. Includes: -Detailed powerpoint on 10 people who have stood for something in which they believed strongly. Could be used as whole class discussion or printed off as slides for groups to feedback main points, possibly as part of a research lesson gathering extra facts. -Overview - A3 sheet showing the photographs of all 10 people. Children fill in some biographical information and try to summarise the main points of for what they stood and the hardships they faced. This is probably more suited to an older or higher ability group. -Key Themes - A4 sheet with pictures and a list of key themes. Children match the key themes to the different characters, possibly as part of a group lesson where groups are feeding back research findings. -Balloon debate cards. A fun activity where groups of children have to persuade the rest of the class why their character deserves a place in a rapidly sinking balloon, rather than being thrown over the side. The cards can be cut out, they have the photograph of the character on one side and space for notes on the back. A good introduction to debating and persuasive speaking.

Christianity around the world / Christian diversity unit of work KS2 Y3 Y4 Y5 Y6 Religious

Christianity around the world / Christian diversity unit of work KS2 Y3 Y4 Y5 Y6 Religious

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS3. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment record page and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. I have also written a two to three hour Flip Learning Project with an example of one completed. Christianity around the world is covered from different countries with a range of activiites and discussion points for each. Easter around the world is also included. The children really enjoyed learning about diversity within a faith. The PPT has 13 lessons and 69 slides with activities. You can pretty much walk into the room and teach from it, without further resources. Ideal if RS cover teacher or non-specialist too. I have developed a whole unit work from Year 5 up to Year 8 which I am now uploading. These have taken me hundreds of hours so I hope this saves you lots of time. Happy Sunday!

Religious Education Belief in Action KS2 What does Religion mean to me? Scheme Unit of work

This unit includes all you need to teach for around a term to KS2. There are lesson power points with back up activities, sheets, discussion points, resources, assessments etc. There is an assessment and a scheme of work to go with the powerpoint too. Covers rules, who is my neighbour/Good Samaritan, Sermon on the Mount, Mother Teresa. Jewish Shema, Sikh 5 Ks, Buddhist 5 precepts, 5 Pillars of Islam and life of St Paul in the New Testament (these are only story references with pages linked to books we have in school so you would need to develop this slide further if you do not have children’s Bibles to read from). I will build on this next year but we had a long term so I added them in to keep me going… The PPT has 10 lessons and 63 slides with activities.
