10 x Day of The Dead IDEA Analysers Keyword Starter Settler Wordsearch Art RE PSHE Cover

10 x Day of The Dead IDEA Analysers Keyword Starter Settler Wordsearch Art RE PSHE Cover

10 starter-style I-D-E-A (Identify, Describe, Explain, Analyse) starters covering 10 topics and themes. Students complete the ones they are comfortable with (eg lower ability complete 'Identify' where they simply can list their thoughts, higher ability complete 'Explain' and 'Analyse' where more detail and sentences can be used. Some of the next one can then be completed based on what they thought, to push them a little further. Themes are: 1/2. Keywords 1&2 3. Art 4. Makeup 5. Beliefs 6. Skull Art 7. Danse Macabre 8. Food and Drink 9. Food Ideas 10. Origins There's actually more than 10 altogether on the ten themes as some have more than one sheet, enough to print out for a whole class and each student to have a different one to aid in differentiation as some are easier to generate words from than others. Also included is a powerpoint with images related to Day of The Dead for printing as handouts/inspiration. Powerpoint so can be used on the board or printed as a worksheet. Includes space for students to explain the keywords and suggested extension activities. Can take 10 minutes or an hour, depending on which activities the students complete. Ideal for the start of a lesson, a quick filler, a homework, part of a cover lesson or as a plenary on the board with a whiteboard pen. The idea behind these is to get students to become more literate and think independently about the words that could be used to describe the topic being taught. The repetition of the word over and over as they look for the word is useful in remembering the terms. Often the students will pick up on things that you would not normally expect!

Buddhist Art lessons 5 and 6. Revise and Assess.

Buddhist Art lessons 5 and 6. Revise and Assess.

Having studied 3 Asanas and the Bhava Chakra students review and revise their learning. The revision lesson covers the main points and gives them a chance to clarify any misunderstandings. I was impressed with how much students could remember- including all twelve nidanas. The assessment is based on the Edexcel GCSE and I have included our grade boundaries as well. The assessment lesson does contain a powerpoint- I use the revision lesson again at the start of the assessment to quickly remind them of key points. My Year 9 has 40 minutes to complete the whole assessment. All students were able to access it. My high prior attainers did well with the part D question.

Jesus - Designing a New Marketing Campaign

Students will compose a marketing design brief, write a mission statement for the Jesus Movement, research and design a corporate logo and slogan. They will research and design a business card and other promotional material. This is a truly inter-disciplinary study that encourages students to develop and use a range of creative skills.

Jesus and Galilee

Jesus and Galilee

These activities are designed to help students to explore Jesus in his context as a first century CE man from the Jewish region of Galilee in Roman Palestine. Teacher background on the Jewish culture of Jesus is provided. The structured activities invite students to write and edit a Galilean newspaper and write a feature article on Jesus' life and career. Students can review the work of archaeologists in the Galilee and the way their findings illuminates the biblical text. Worksheets explain the markers of Jewish culture described in the gospels. A worksheet on Jesus and the celebration of the Jewish Passover helps to locate Jesus as an observant Jew. Students can research whether Jesus was really a carpenter, using the gospels and modern art. These activities are suitable for students from upper primary to secondary levels.
