In this HÔTEL theme version of the game there 60 French-English cards. There are 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions. This French Taboo game includes the following: How to play classic Taboo (beginner and advanced levels) 60 Taboo game cards to print, laminate, cut out and hook together with a ring Black and white and color versions included How to play 15 MINUTES MAX - an alternative version of the game 15 MINUTES MAX game board Sheet to record new words in French and English (nouveaux mots) *In the upper left corner there's a spot for you to punch holes in the cards so that you can then attach them with a ring for no prep use every time. Be sure to laminate if at all possible! Object of the game: One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can't use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

Research project (Motivational triggers) for KS3 French - Bon voyage (Holidays) (AQA new spec)

Research project (Motivational triggers) for KS3 French - Bon voyage (Holidays) (AQA new spec)

This is a research project lesson (or two lessons really) that I created for my year 7 French students. The writing example can be easily adapted if more structures are to be added. The idea is to promote independent learning via research. Students have to research information about the place that they would like to visit (any place in world really but I encouraged to visit France). Students decide on the task and start researching relevant information about the chosen location using their iPads/ Chromebooks. At the same time they create a poster or a travel brochure with pop-up images (!!!) about the chosen location. During the second lesson they distribute the writing task bullet points in-between the members of the group and complete a piece of writing as per success criteria and model answer. In the end they stick their written notes (or attach them) to their poster /travel brochure. The whole process takes about 2 lessons and is perfect for the end of the topic as you can incorporate all of the structures / vocabulary learned during the term! Note: the writing example is oriented on the revision of tenses studied this year, holidays, weather and location vocabulary. Please let me know if you have any other ideas on how this project can be implemented. If you still have some time left you can enjoy few games I have inserted to simply have fun during the (possibly) last lesson of the year.

Mystery French-Speaking Country Cultural Lesson + Worksheet (Morocco)

Mystery French-Speaking Country Cultural Lesson + Worksheet (Morocco)

An excellent lesson, providing students with clues as to a mystery Francophone country and asking them to detect which one it might be. 23 slides in total, great fun to teach. Fully animated with all answers, clear directions for students and support for teacher in Notes section of slides if required. Challenge options included within activities to extend HA. The lesson begins by asking students to note down on their whiteboards vocabulary linked to travel and holidays. Activity 1 - Match the French name for the country to the English translation and the correct flag, drawing a star next to the country if you think it has French as an official language. Activity 2- Match the Mystery Country's national dishes to the English descriptions and the images if possible. Activity 3 - Use the French clues provided to locate the Mystery Country on the map. Activity 4 - Use the map and the images to work out where the Mystery Country might be. Activity 5 - See how many phrases can be recognised in the song lyrics for a famous singer from the Mystery Country (Amel Bent - Ma Philisophie). Think, pair, share, discussion of song lyrics depending on level of group (vocabulary, verbs, pronouns, messages within the song) and singalong at end. Lesson is reviewed using a Plenary Triangle, asking students to reflect on one thing that they knew already, three things that they've learned during the lesson, and one thing that they would like to know more about. The final section can be set as a research project for homework if wished. Great to fit into modules about Travel and Tourism, food, song, cultural similarities and differences, geography, or as a filler lesson before a holiday. A very popular lesson that always goes down a storm! Also available with Mauritius as the mystery country.

French Writing Journal

French Writing Journal

Bulletin Journals are a creative and fun way to engage students in writing. Taking inspiration from Pinterest, I put together these four sheets which cover topics such as : Food/drink, chores, school subjects, daily routine, holidays (past and future) then a more creative sheet where students fill their 'Happiness Box' (with nouns) and list the things they would like to learn (using verbs). I plan to use this as a Writing Assessment. There is scope for all levels of ability in this task. The pages can be used individually or as a booklet. I plan to use the 'Ma Vie' sheet as the 1st page and the ' Boîte à Bonheur' sheet as the back page with the other two sheets in the middle. I have now added the assessment sheet to accompany the journal.

Coded message - great end of term / summer activity!

Coded message - great end of term / summer activity!

Each symbol represents a letter. Once the pupil have de-coded all the letters, it will give them the following message: Bonjour, je m’appelle Camille. En général je vais en vacances chez mon grand-père. Je voyage en avion. Quand je vais à la plage, je prends de l’eau minérale et un livre. Je n’aime pas la crème solaire! Je porte un maillot de bain vert et jaune avec un grand chapeau bleu. J’adore jouer avec mon bateau gonflable et mon petit seau! You can then reward the first person to find out: - the name of the mystery writer - where he goes on holiday - how he travels - what he wears to the beach - what he takes to the beach
