French GCSE holidays future tense _ 2 activity sheets with reading comprehension, vocab and trans

French GCSE holidays future tense _ 2 activity sheets with reading comprehension, vocab and trans

2 activity sheets to support pupils talking about holidays using the future tense. 1) There is some translation and verb manipulation to begin with and these verbs then feature in an extended reading which is accompanied by reading comprehension questions and an activity to find the A* language constructions within the text. The final activity is translation into French, recycling all the earlier language work. 2) A reading comprehension in the future tense: key vocabulary in a match up activity, gap fill, some A* facilitating constructions and a written task with a check list of complex language to include.

Le plus-que-parfait / The pluperfect tense

Le plus-que-parfait / The pluperfect tense

This lesson firstly revises the imperfect tense in French and requires the pupils to think about how the imperfect tense is formed. Once the pupils are familiar with the imperfect tense, the lesson moves on to how to form the pluperfect tense with opportunities for formative assessment throughout, in terms of targeted questioning as well as peer assessment. The powerpoint contains opportunities for the pupils to practice their translation skills as well as their free writing. The main task of this lesson is for the pupils to write a travel blog using the passé composé, imperfect tense and the pluperfect interchangeably. The task is differentiated by outcome to provide extra challenge for the high attaining pupils and to support the lower attainers.

Year 7 French Scheme of Work (Whole year and detailed - based on Studio 1)

Year 7 French Scheme of Work (Whole year and detailed - based on Studio 1)

* Each page contains a table that guides teachers on what to teach and expected outcomes each week. * Table headings are: Objectives, Grammar & Tenses, Vocabulary, Pronunciation opportunities, Questions, Possible activities, Homework and Stamps, HPA (more-able students) * This scheme isn't intended to restrict teachers' activities, but to suggest ideas in case they're looking for inspiration! * Objectives are differentiated (green - weaker students; blue - mainstream; red - very able students). * Integrates grammar pages, page resources and extension activities from Stimmt 1. * Curates activities in the books to create a logical progression from discovery to production. * Makes frequent reference to exercises and resources in Stimmt. * Plenty of time built in for practice - almost all double page spreads are allocated two weeks. * Reference to differentiation throughout. *Hyperlinks to Quizlets and Kahoots that relate to the unit being covered. * Modules 1-5 are covered * There is a bit of jargon in the scheme: - HPA (high prior attainment = very strong students) - Stamp - we mark students' work twice per half term, so when you see 'Stamp #1' or Stamp #2', that's what it means! - PC1, PC2, PC3 etc - stands for Progress Check. This is what we call our SIMS reporting.

End of topic project Directions - En ville

End of topic project Directions - En ville

Students spend 3-4 lessons (1h) to complete the project. They learn about a town in France and create a travel brochure in French. I used this activity with my Year 8s and they loved it. I included a reflection sheet to get them to think about the skills they used during this project. I paired them up but can be an individual activity.
