Learning Portuguese Is Fun! - Bundle

Are you learning Portuguese? Are you looking for a fun way to learn Portuguese? I have developed a way to learn different languages based on my experience as an ESL teacher. This pack has 57 different settings for students to talk about in Portuguese. The worksheets themselves are in English and the students do need to translate the places and objects they see into Portuguese. At the end of the session, the students can play a fun game of word bingo to show they have mastered that day’s vocabulary. Try it, it is a lot of fun for everyone!

This is a partner activity. Students take turns identifying toys and then connecting them if correct. The goal is to complete as many squares as possible. Uses the vocabulary for: rich, poor, happy, sad, funny, boring, weak, strong, good, bad, pretty/beautiful, ugly, old, young, dumb, smart. Good for any language.

Part 1: Photo description & comparison Encourages use of linking terms, connectors and cohesive devices Vocabulary acquisition Part 2: Discussion questions Debates Agree / disagree Advantages / disadvantages Encourages fluency and confidence using Portuguese Can be used for a 1-1 speaking class or pair-work activity in a large class Instructions for PART 1: 1) Working with a partner with the same photo (student As with As, Bs with Bs), students attempt to identify the vocabulary in their photo. (alternatively, for low-level students, the teacher can provide students with a vocabulary list and the students label the photo). 2) Change pairs to AB. 3) Student A describes photo while student B listens attentively. 4) Student B describes photo while student A listens attentively. 5) Still without looking at each other’s photos, students attempt to identify 3 differences between their photos. Students may now look at each other’s photos and describe 2-3 differences each. Encourage use of CONNECTORS: Primeiro, Em segundo lugar, Finalmente Entretanto, Por outro lado, Enquanto isso Além disso, Adicionalmente, Também Instructions for PART 2 1) Students ask each other the discussion questions. Encourage students to: Extend their answers Elicit more information Agree / disagree with their partners Justify their arguments 2) Students try and report to their new partner everything they can remember which their old partner has just told them. There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning Portuguese. The students could write about a topic in Portuguese before starting a unit, and then write again about the topic, using the second worksheet at the end of the topic to see how much they have progressed. It could also be used as an introduction to guided writing. Students can write sentences as a class and share the sentences together and they can then write them on their own. Alternatively, students could work in pairs - one student dictates to the other what to write down about what they see in the picture.

There are 114 different pictures to choose from. Select a single picture and project the image on the wall or share it with the class as a hand-out. Let's Talk in Portuguese!: This set of cards looks at 57 different settings. The teacher describes something in the top card. The students then use this to model a sentence using the bottom set of pictures. There are lots of things to see and describe in every picture. When the students have completed this task, they can repeat it by working in pairs to discuss each picture. Let's Write in Portuguese pack: There are lots of ways of using this teaching pack. It could be used as writing assessment for students learning Portuguese.
